Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said during a wide-ranging interview on Friday that was also aired on local media on Sunday. Addressing regional security and drone warfare, Lt. Gen. Chaudhry cited the downing of dozens of drones coming from across the eastern border during the May 2025 conflict with India as evidence of the military's preparedness. The military spokesperson accused India of sponsoring terrorism inside Pakistan. He further alleged that the Afghan Taliban regime, alongside the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), operate as proxies for India. Lt. Gen. Chaudhry warned that the Afghan Taliban do not have the capacity to withstand a response from Pakistan and will pay a heavy price if they fail to stop supporting cross-border terrorism. Turning to regional diplomacy, the ISPR director general stated that Pakistan remains cautiously optimistic regarding its mediation efforts between the United States and Iran. He also noted on the diplomatic front that the Makkah defence pact does not bar other nations from joining the arrangement. 📰 Sources: Al Jazeera and other outlets ✓ Verified News · confirmed by several independent sources
